"Within the Walls..." was originally composed by Daniel Laubacher for a benefits concert in Kuwait for the International Committee of the Red Cross in 1995. It was revised for a Vienna performance (at the Konzerthaus) in 1997 as another benefits event for Karlheinz Böhm's charity Menschen fuer Menschen. The piece is a symphonic poem for solists (soprano, tenor and descant), SA children's choir and orchestra. It is dedicated to "all prisoners of conflict" around the world, a very contemporary and touching topic which attempts to communicate the message of "hope" in our very turmoil-oriented world.
