A childrens opera.  Analykah is a princess in the Kingdom of Ubar, an ancient city in the desert of Oman.  The Sultan, who is loved by his people, is ousted by his own cousin, Sheik Wasir.  The Sultan is captured and put in prison.  Analykah and her mother closely escape being captured.  For years they live with a desert community of Bedouins in order to hide their identities.  During a particularly dry year, the community seeks new sources of water.  They are tired and thirsty.  Finally they arrive at the well which has been known for never having been dried.  To the community's disappointment, the only thing they find in the hole are stones and sand.  While the others sleep Analykah sings with her most beautiful voice, and suddenly...
